After much telephoning I found a company that would come out TODAY and do something about the awful stench coming from under my house. TruTech is the company I used and I would highly recommend them. The guy who came out was Sam. He seemed very young but he knew what he was doing. I asked him how he got into the business of critter-ridding, and he said he has a degree in forestry and wildlife management (I think). He said he really likes his work despite some icky aspects. (I'm sure crawling under my house was not a career highlight for him. You couldn't pay me to go under there.)
Anyway, he found a dead possum--a very large possum that apparently had been living under my porch eating a lot of birds. He is gone now, as is the stench. However, I didn't get much writing/editing done. I hope tomorrow will be a more productive day.
I actually like possums (live ones, that is). They are the only north American marsupial. They are shy and not aggressive, and they eat many things we consider pests (rats and mice, snakes, bugs). Because they have a low body temperature, they are not likely to carry rabies or other diseases the way skunks and raccoons do. (Sam told me that last factoid.)
So, problem solved. Realtor still hasn't taken pictures of my house. The weather won't cooperate. We're hoping to try again tomorrow.
We went to a new restaurant for Thai food tonight. It's called Con-Fusion (funny, eh?). I had Pad Thai with Tofu. Nummy yum yum.
I listed some new vintage rhinestone earrings today.
