I was sitting on my deck having breakfast when I noticed a squirrel high up in the tree above me. Just as I spotted him, he slipped and fell out of the tree all the way to the ground. When he landed, it made a loud whump. But he just hopped up and ran off, completely unharmed.
He must have fallen thirty feet. I wonder how it is he didn't break every bone in his body?
It was a strange morning of mishaps. I put my oatmeal in the microwave for 1--1/2 minutes--or so I thought. But when I realized the microwave had been running for quite some time, I looked at the timer and I still had eight minutes to go. I must have punched one of the numbers twice.
Unfortunately, the oatmeal had exploded. Not a pretty sight. I gave up and ate toaster waffles.
My rice and lentils turned out better. When I was shopping yesterday (not finding any clothes) I found this "microwave pressure cooker." It cost $5.99 and I just had to have it. It's actually not a pressure cooker, it's like the rice cooker I already have but much bigger. So I made up some brown rice and lentils, and it was really easy and fast!
In other news, my tomato plant is finally making a tomato. It's about the size of a pea right now, and with cooler weather here (it was in the 60s this morning!) I'm not sure if it will mature, but I'm hoping.
Oh, writing news--I lost five pages today. Made me really mad. I rewrote them but they weren't as good. I have no idea what happened. I saved the file, but then I got this weird message and Word shut down and nothing I'd written had been saved. Bummer.

I didn't blog last night because of computer issues--and I just couldn't face re-starting yet again to finish the blog.
Went shopping at a new store in my neighborhood--a big discount store ala Ross Dress for Less. I think it's owned by the same people, and it's identical, so I'm not sure why they bothered to change the name. I have found some great bargains at Ross over the years, but these stores have a problem. You can't find anything that matches. Everything is sold as separates, and nothing coordinates. I found a really cute pair of yellow capris, but there wasn't a shirt in the entire store that would match it. I found a nice pair of Lee jean shorts, but that's it.
It was pouring rain most of yesterday. The backyard is a sodden mess, all my plants are drowning. I've lost the arugula, and I was really enjoying it, too.
