Does anyone out there watch Ghost Hunters? It's a reality show about paranormal investigators, and I'm fascinated by it even though a) it's rather badly done and b) they hardly ever find anything paranormal other than a few cold spots and questionable sound recordings of supposed disembodied voices (I can never understand what they're saying).
The two stars of the show work for Roto-Rooter by day and their own paranormal investigative company by night. But what really irritates me about the show is that, because it's not really that interesting watching guys set up cameras and run cable and stumble around in the dark talking to ghosts and don't answer back, they have to create drama, reality-TV show. So they invent feuds between team members, and personal problems. Lots of back-biting and bickering that just takes away from the team's professionalism.
And yet ... every once in a while they gather something on video or audio that gives me chills--an apparition, something moving by itself, or a voice you actually can understand. So I keep watching it. I once lived in a house that was "haunted" (at least, we experienced many, many weird things) and I wish I had tried to get hard evidence.
Okay, well, anyway, I'm writing about Ghost Hunters because it was another typically boring day for me, writing, walking, eating. Got my nails done. Made an awesome salad. Got an e-mail from my editor asking for titles. I was kind of hoping if I ignored her, she would come up with some wonderful titles on her own, but no, she's expecting me to do it! She certainly didn't like the last ones I came up with. I have to put my thinking cap on.
Thanks for dropping in,
Kara
