My mother-in-law arrived today from California. Sally usually comes once a year and stays for a few days, and her visits are always delightful. She's a wonderfully self-sufficient houseguest and she never seems to mind that we have to work, even though we are at home.
Earlier, I had critique group and my first ten pages of CATCH OF THE DAY got skewered! I knew they would, though. I knew something was wrong with them, and my critiquers helped me to pinpoint what.
Afterward we tried a new Italian restaurant, the name of which escapes me now. But it was good. I longed to order some of the fabulous-sounding Italian specialties, like pizza or pasta or lasagna, but instead I had a salad (with a bit of pasta in it). That's because my bathroom scale induced a mild panic attach this morning. I've been a bit lax about my diet, so it's back to more rabbit food and more exercise until I lose this roll around my middle--uck!
Had my yoga class, too, and it was a tough one today--lots of squats and lunges (burning thighs) and push-up-type stuff (burning arms). And lots of sweat. Then it was time to head to the airport to pick up Sally. She brought me some sea glass to make mosaics with.
Thanks for reading,
Kara
