I did two insane things today. I signed up for NaNoWriMo, which is National Novel Writers Month for the uninitiated. People who sign up attempt to finish a 50,000-word novel, start to finish, by Nov. 30. You're supposed to start on page one on Nov. 1. But since I already have about 50 pages done of my Harlequin American Proposal done, I'll start from there. It's cheating, but my goal is 65,000 words, not 50,000, so it works out to about the same amount of writing to get to "The End."
So what's the second insane thing I did? I started a new book. A completely new book. But I can't write it during NaNoWriMo because I HAVE to get the American finished--it's under contract. Too bad--the new one is so much fun. But that's my mind playing tricks on me. I don't get inspired until I'm in a position that I can't do anything about it.
Did some writing and polishing, walked to the post office and grocery store to buy candy for the little brats--er, darlings--then hunkered down to watch the live Ghost Hunters show. It's still on, and frankly it's pretty much a bore. Usually they take six or eight hours of hunting, condense it down to thirty minutes for a show, and it's still boring. You can imagine. They're all jumping at shadows and seeing stuff, just so they'll have something to talk about.
